14 Years Later, Kal Ho Na Ho Still Moves Me To Tears – Guest Blog

“Main aankhen bandh karta hoon to tumhe dekhta hoon..Aakhen kholta hoon to tumhe dekhta chahta hoon”..- Even after 14 years, when I watch this emotional scene from Kal Ho Na Ho, in which Aman Mathur reads out his feelings from an empty diary to help out Rohit to convince Naina, makes me cry everytime. Aman is a character that was brilliantly portrayed by Shah Rukh Khan, so was Naina by Priety Zinta and Rohit by Saif Ali Khan.

This movie makes all of us believe that true love is all about wanting to see the person you love to be happy and settled in life, even when you are not able to witness such happiness.

The first meeting of Aman and Naina, when Aman mistakenly pushes Naina and drops a glass of beverage on her and observes her and her conversation with Sweetu (Naina’s friend) when he was about to give her a tissue is one of my most favorite scenes. The way Aman observes her with concentration and tries to understand the situation is something that makes me drool at the screen over and over again. Aman enters the life of Naina and gradually solves her problems and then falls in love with her. Despite loving her, he during his last few days settled Naina with Rohit as he wanted to see her happy through out her life – and that’s what true love is!

The movie scenes are very heart touching, specially in the scene when Aman in anger and sadness tells Rohit, “Kaash main tumhare jagah par hotaa, Rohit..Kaash“. Knowing the fact that death is approaching him due to his health conditions, he miraculously turned the life of Naina and her family into a happy one, made her love herself and her life and most importantly ‘Smile’. And, that’s the most emotional part of the movie to see him struggle with health issues and control his emotions for Naina and later die peacefully after making sure that Naina and people surrounding him lives happily rest of their lives.

The dialogue in which Aman says “Pyaar toh bahut log karte hain, lekin mere jaisa pyar koi nahin kar sakta, kyonki kisi ke paas tum jo nahin ho. Main tumhe bhool nahin sakta Naina. Main tumhe bhoolna hi nahin chahta. Tum meri ho, main tumhe zindagi bhar pyar karoonga. Marte dam tak pyar karoonga aur uske baad bhi”, is what depicts that Aman conveys that he’ll continue loving her even after his death is very very emotional one. The background music, the screenplay, the direction – everything is perfect. After the movie, every girl’s dream is to have someone like Aman in her life but of course, the end should be a happy one unlike the ending of Kal Ho Naa Ho. Thanks to the Kal Ho Naa Ho team for reminding us to enjoy the present moments as Kya pata..Kal Ho Naa Ho..
